Have you ever wondered how to prepare for your upcoming headshot session? Well, here’s all the answers to that question.
What’s Included In A High-end Professional Headshot Session
The headshot session usually includes pre-session planning for a “no fear” experience, and complete direction on facial expression and body positioning. It also includes one of your favorite images. If you’re not getting facial expression and body positioning, you won’t get a high-end professional headshot.
Are All The Photos Serious?
During your session you should be able to explore all kinds of expressions: serious, high-energy, funny faces, moods, and anything else you are up for.
Retouched Images
Each of your favorite photos should come with professional and natural digital retouching. You should be able to order as many of your favorite photos as you want. Most people select 3-6 images.
Deposit
Usually, a non-refundable 50% deposit is due at the time of scheduling and is should be able to be paid online. The deposit applies toward your session fee.
Payment in Full
Payment in full is usually due before the session begins. This should be able to be paid online. It can also be paid during the scheduling process.
Rescheduling
Life happens, so if you need to reschedule that should be OK with the photographer. Out of courtesy, you should provide as much advance notice as possible. A one-time rescheduling waiver should be included in your non-refundable deposit.
Make-up & Hair
If you want your make up and hair done, you should plan for it before you arrive.
Location
You usually go to the photographer.
Selecting Your Photos
You should be able to see each photo as you go through the photo shoot. You should be able to review the photos together with the photographer to find the best of the best. You should be able to buy as many favorites as you want, and usually you would pay for them at the end of the session once your selections are made.
Photo Delivery
Your favorites usually are delivered online in 7-14 days.
Payment Methods
Usually, photographers accept cash, Venmo, PayPal, and Square.
Several Days Before…
Drink lots of water. Focus on eating healthy. Arrange for make-up, if desired.
The Night Before…
Select a variety of solid color clothing options. Get a good night’s rest.
The Day Of…
Show up ready for fun, laughs, and a good time. Your photographer should coach you the entire time to draw out honest reactions. At the end of the session you are able to order and pay online for all of your favorites.
What About Jewelry?
While jewelry is fun to wear, jewelry actually can diminish the impact of the headshot. A high-end headshot photographer should recommend no jewelry during the headshot session.
