When I became an “aunt” of two special boys, my life changed forever. I learned everything I could, and I become an “official” respite provider. My sweet nephews are all grown up now, and they have taught me the invaluable arts of love, slow, laughter, and listening.
My heart is with families with special kids. I’ve heard stories about families who have been turned away by photographers because the photographer didn’t want to work with or photograph that child. Families with special kids enjoy a great photo of their child, just like everyone else.
If you have a special kid, I’d love to talk to you about getting some great photographs of your child. I am sensitive to the needs of special kids, and I will listen to you when you tell me what makes your child amazing. I will also understand you when you tell me what will help your child enjoy the photography session.
I am comfortable with working with kids and adults in the following situations or with the following diagnoses:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Intellectual disabilities
- Blind or visually impaired
- Deaf or limited hearing, and cochlear implants
- Down Syndrome
- Muscular Dystrophy
- Multiple Sclerosis
- Limited to a wheel-chair or bed
My portfolio is growing in this area, and so is my experience. In June 2019 I took the certification class offered by Special Kids Photography of America.
On August 27, 2019, I became accredited with Special Kids Photography of America.
